Laboratory of pharmacokinetics

Igor Ivanovich Miroshnichenko is the head of the laboratory of pharmacokinetics, doctor of medical sciences. In 1988 he upheld his PhD's thesis “Neurochemical assessment of functional parameters of catecholamine and serotoninergic brain systems under neuroleptic action” and in 1995 - his doctoral thesis “Neurochemical and pharmacokinetic aspects of the mechanism of action of nootropic and antiamnestic agents”. His scientific interests involve pharmacokinetics, psychopharmacology, chromatography, computer technologies, Internet. He has 74 scientific publications and 1 monograph. Under his supervision, 3 PhD's have been upheld. He took part in the project “Modelling of clinical pharmacokinetic trials of pharmaceuticals”, run by the American Association of Pharmacological Sciences (AAPS).

The new staff of the Laboratory re-started its activities in 1998, on the basis of the laboratory that had the same title and had been functioning in the Institute of Psychiatry of AMS USSR and in the MHRC RAMS.

The laboratory is staffed with 5 research fellows.

The structure of the laboratory consists of 2 groups: analytical group; group of computer modelling.

Scope of research activities of the Laboratory:

  • Identification of changes in the biochemical and pharmacokinetic parameters during treatment of resistant depression by a combination of antidepressants and antioxidants.
  • Elaboration of pharmacokinetic and biopharmaceutical approaches to the optimization of preventive lithium therapy of affective and schizoaffective psychoses.
  • Comparative trials of pharmacokinetics, bioavailability and bioequivalence of psychopharmacological agents.
  • Creation of a database on pharmacodynamic properties, pharmacokinetic parameters and optimal dosage regimen of psychotropic drugs.
